unpaid loan

I live in the state of texas and I was recently contacted by a business stating that if I didn't pay the loan I received from cas advance that myself and my references would be taken to jail. The amount was for $523.00. I made one payment of $250.00. Can they do this?

God no. Debts are civil, not criminal. Get their name and report them to your state AG's office. When did you make the payment?? Can you put a stop payment on it??
