I have been contacted by Mark Sloan of Lewis Luxenberg & Associates, saying they're representing Pre Legal Credit Services to recover an outstanding credit card debt.

I want to clear this debt, but am not sure these guys are legit, I've also found a few negative comments on Pre Legal and Mark Sloan on this site and others.

Any advice would be welcome!

Thanks.

They contacted me a week or so back and have sent me a collection letter, it does NOT tell me that I have the right to validate/dispute the debt within 30 days of receiving the letter, just to pay the settlement, and that their client reserves the right to resolve the matter in Civil Court if I don't.

Should I send them the Debt Validation Letter?

Thanks.

Thanks, in addition I have checked my Credit Report and the account they are referring to is shown as "Charge off" but has NOT been Transfered or Sold, or shown as in Collections.

Am I right in thinking that these guys are not authorized to collect on this account?

I would like to know if anyone has any info on this company or a positive outcome. I am in a similar situation with the same company and setup payment arrangements. They said if a check is to bounce there will be a wArrant for my arrest. Doesn't sound legit to me.
