I opened an acct. with World Fin. Network National Bank in order to get 20% off that days purchases. My total was $116.00. I didn't think about this acct. until I got the 1st statement some time later that rellected a late charge. I was suprised since it was the 1st statement I saw, so i promptly called the phone # on the statement and gave all the information the automated system asked for and was told that i had a 0 balance.
I asked my dayghter if she remembers my paying at the store and she thought maybe I did so again I thought nothing of it. But to my surprise i recieved another statement stating that i am now @ months late. I called again and explained the above and they retsacted the late fee and I made the payment right then over the phone.
Now 3 mo. later I am trying to close on a home morgage and on the settlment statement it shows that I owe WFNNB $139. After calling the bank again I find out that they sent me in as a bad payee to the credit reporting co. I am hopping mad aboput this and think it is so unfair since I did my part. My credit is soooo important to me and it's been golden until this Co. screwed it up.
Is there any thing the comsumer can do when treated unfairly like this?

From what I am reading, you left too many "maybes" on the table.
From what I am reading, you left too many "maybes" on the table. If you were not sure you had paid it, you should have gone thru your bank statement. IMHO both you and WFNNB share the blame.
