I am so scared. I just talked to chase credit card and they said my account is now in the legal dept. I spoke with a rep of theirs last week and she told me to make a payment by the 24th. I called to pay today the 23rd and they told me there was nothing they could do the account had to handled by the courts now. Why would they tell me to make a payment by a certain date and now tell me 2 days ago my account was not eligable for a payment or a plan. Now I understand that a sheriff or someone will show up at my house and serve me papers. I dont know what to do.

I would suggest calling back and talking to someone else...or asking for the legal department. Even when they start legal proceedings, it is not technically in the hands of the court...the attorney handling the account can still negotiate.

I should call back huh? I was talking to the legal dept. and he was not very promising. I feel as though there is nothing I can do. He assured me that it was going to have to go through the courts, is that not true? Is there still something I can do? And what happens if I should file bankrupt? Can they continue to come after me. I dont even have a job, I am sending out applications daily. My husband does work but he isnt able to pay all the bills. We are overextended by 74k. Even debt management said that we dont have enough money to even go on a payment plan.
