Payday loans are not allowed in MD. Does that mean that someone from another state can not give a payday loan to someone who lives in MD?

If you drive over to VA and get a loan at a brick and mortar store there, you will be bound by VA laws rather than MD laws, if that's what you're asking. If you get a loan via the internet, it will be illegal. CSOs and installment loan lenders operate under different laws, however. Places like CashNetUSA and Check 'n Go online are operating as CSOs, so those are legal. There are a lot of factors. If you give us more information, we can give you more specific answers. Who is the lender in question? Was this an online loan or a storefront loan?
