I am in Pa and all payday loans are illegal in pa. I spoke with the department of banking and i was told that there are no legal payday loans in pa storefront or online. I was told close my bank account and contact the payday loan companies and explain that the loans are illegal inpa. I was told that if there are any listed on my credit to dispute them as the loan was illegal and they can not legally collect on the debt. i asked hom what amount i was required to pay back and he told me agin they are illegal so even if they took me to court they can not collect on the loan. They are trying to shut all the companies out but they keep changing numbers and addresses. he asked me to fax him info on the companies such as contracts or loan documents so they can get more info to crack down on illegal loans. my problem is how do i request the loan companies to mark my account paid . does any one have a form letter I was also told to tell teh collections agency to stop calling m esince it is illegal debt , can any one send me a link to a pif letter or send me any suiggestions. for any one in pa please contac the dept of banking and start reporting these comnpanies so we can shut them doem in pa even the internet ones.

Rob, our recommendation is to pay back the principal amount borrowed as that is the ethical think to do. In PA all PDLs are illegal. You do need to make sure you're dealing with a PDL though, rather than a CSO or an installment loan. You can visit this link to obtain info on how to deal with illegal lenders (including sample letters to revoke ACH, wage assignment, etc.). There is no "form" as each situation is different. http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/illegal-pdl-dealings.html

Crafty, you need to give us more info. Who are your loans through? How much did you borrow? How much have you paid so far? Were these storefront or internet loans?

If these are PDLs and you've paid back more than you borrowed, they you're owed a refund or, at the very least, you're done paying. Please read the info on the link I posted above. It would also be wise if you listed out your lenders, how much you borrowed and how much you've paid so far. That way I can give you more detailed direction.

Crafty, please do not post your email address on a public forum. If you need to contact me directly, you can use the PM function through this forum. If you meant First Bank of Delaware, then that loan is legal. All the rest are illegal lenders. I'll wait for you to come back with your figures.
