Was going so well but now I'm worried

Of the 6 internet lenders we had loans through, only ONE - CK Marketing - attempted to debit our account and they were denied. They have also sent me e-mails, called my home, my cell, my office and one of my friends. I hang up on the calls, but I've responded by e-mail over and over that I actually only owe them $50, which I've offered to send them by whatever means they prefer (as long as it's not directly through my bank account!).
But then today, a letter arrived at work - addressed as confidential to HR/Payroll with a Yuma, AZ return address. I'm the one who gets the mail here, so I took it and sure enough, it was a "Notice of transfer to legal" claiming that that on my $500 loan, which I've currently paid $450 on, I now owe $736!!! And, they say they are filing a civil suit with the local county courts within 5 days of the date of the letter (which passed before I even GOT the letter, BTW).
Should I be scared? Are they seriously going to sue me or are they just trying to scare me?
HELP!!! I thought I was actually getting through this and now I'm more worried than ever!
Who was the company that sent the letter regarding a civil suit?
Who was the company that sent the letter regarding a civil suit? Double check that it is illegal. Second, call your county clerk of court and ask if there is a pending case against you. Take a deep breath. We just need to double check your facts.

Let them sue you. They're an illegal lender! If they actually file suit and show up in court, they'll get arrested! Did you revoke wage assignment with this company as well? If not, you may want to do that and get it to your HR/Payroll department. I think this is likely a scare tactic. They're trying to embarrass you into giving them money. It's extortion and it's illegal!
how are they going to file anything that quick?if it's not a wag
how are they going to file anything that quick?if it's not a wage assignment i would ask my HR person what this was about.oh and btw in COOK,LAKE,DUPAGE,AND KENDALL counties the sheriff must serve you personally.this sounds and is bogus, but just for piece of mind check with your county court clerk.i would be willing to bet that there is no case against you.the next step is seeking legal action against this idiot pdl,or whoever sent this bogus letter.
They would have to be crazy to pay the filing fees with the cour
They would have to be crazy to pay the filing fees with the court and also hire someone to do it without any chance of winning more than 50.00.

I'm just simply amazed by the ferocity of these companies. To go as far as sending out a "fake" notice like that to your employer - repulsive. However, I'm not surprised. I actually got a call from the Pakistani people on Friday that resulted in them hanging up on me and calling my HR rep. The caller told my employer that I committed "a fraud", oh and it was "in their name / using their name". I really wish they had a US presence other than with prepaid cell phones and VoIP.

I did revoke wage assignment with them. My employer won't get the letter they sent anyway, BTW. I know that CK marketing has a Yuma, AZ mailing address and, what the fine folks at CK do not know is that I am the one who receives ALL the mail - LOL! Yeah, that letter didn't get any farther than my trash can.
Also, I mentioned yesterday that I borrowed $500, of which I've paid $450. I realized that's not even CLOSE to correct. I had forgotten that CK used to be known as paydayonline, which hit me when I got that first call on my office phone and their caller ID still says Paydayonline! So, I went back through about 18 months of bank statements and discovered this:
Loan #1 - $400 borrowed in June of 2009. Made payments of $120 every two weeks until February of 2010, when I paid off with my tax refund. Payoff amount was $520. Loan #2 - $500 borrowed in July of 2010. Made 3 $150 payments for a total of $450. I don't have my exact numbers handy, but the total of the 2 loans was $900 and I have actually paid them approximately $2700!!!!
So, after I got home from work last night I put all the numbers in a nice little e-mail to them, again attaching the C&D and ACH revocation (although that bank account is now closed, so whatever) and let them know that they would never get one red cent from me and informed them they could mail my $1800 refund check to my home address.
I haven't gotten any calls today....
