Hi, I am the latest desperate soul to enter the world of fighting off these lenders. My name is Frank, and I wish I had some compelling story that made me look like I am not completely retarded but I don't. I did the first Paydayloan about a year ago, because we were low on Christmas money, and I almost had that payed off and then something went wrong with the car so I did another and it just kind of snowballed. I would pay one off, and then something else would come up, before I knew it I was constantly floating like 3 to 6, and it's just out of control. Here is what I currently have running right now:

Elastic.com/Urban Trust Bank: Original loan 600.00, Balance 483.00, paid 264.00 so far.

Paydaymax: They may end up getting there money, I lost track of the date and the full balance is due to come out later this morning (yeah, that money is not there) they are interesting in that they put through 2 debits, one for the payment and one for the interest/fee, so if you are ever deficient, you get hit with 2 NSF fees. Nice. Anyway, I have paid them about 600.00 on a 500.00 loan, 400.00 is due.

VIPLOANSHOP- Original loan 500.00, paid 600.00 so far

NATIONWIDE CASH- Original loan 500.00, paid 600.00 so far

ADVANCEMETODAY- Original loan 300.00, paid 180.00

First Bank of Delaware- Original loan 500.00, paid 200.00 so far.

ZIPCASH19- Original loan 500.00, they require full payment each time and I have been paying them the 90.00 fee to rollover twice a month pretty much all year. Not really sure what to do about this one, in that technically I have not paid back the 500.00.

So, as embarrassing as this is I am going into my Credit Union tomorrow and not leaving until they put a hard ACH debit restriction on my account, nothing comes out unless it's by my debit card. I will have copies of letters that are going to every illegal Payday lender I have listed. These letters are basically a variation of the template that I have found on this site, which has been extremely helpful. I will visit this site daily to give everyone updates on exactly how this all goes down. I admit it is with some trepidation that I do this, any advice you all have or encouraging stories would be much appreciated. Also, any information you may have on dealing with these various institutions please pass that one as well.

On a personal note, while I am ashamed at how bad I let this get I am also amazed at how much it really does feel like a cycle of endless, for lack of better words, shit. I mean, I make good money, so does my wife, we just needed money at times when we didn't have it and I would rationalize doing another one with the thought that I was doing what is best to keep the wheels spinning, just keep going, and I would tell myself that I was doing what was best for my family, and I just wasn't. Maybe some of the best intentions I have ever had in my life in fact, all the money went to either pay necessities or make payments to other crazy loans.

Anyway, I will keep you all meticulously posted.

Thank you all in advance (God I hate that word now) for any help you may be.

Regards,

Frank M.

Frank: You are not alone. I too am digging out from pdls. There is light at the end of the tunnel! Just hang in there and continue to use the advice of this forum. It has helped me so much! You can do this!

Frank, I've been right where you are! Just hang in there and it will all get resolved. I ended up closing my bank account, but I must say the bank when I closed the account was very undertanding.

Dealing with these illegal lenders calling me at work was terrifying. I told the people at work that some illegal lenders were trying to withdraw money from my account-(kind of like maybe identity theft or something)-my employers would even intercept the calls for me! After I sent the certified letters letting them know that I knew they were illegal lenders and that i had contacted the attorney general in my state it didn't ake long for these morons to back off.

I will be reading your posts to keepp up with your progress!

Frank, you are NOT retarded, please try not to be embarrassed; if you look over posts on this site you can see that just about all of us have been in your shoes to one extent or another. As the others have said, there IS light at the end of that tunnel and once you take those first steps, you WILL begin to see that light, trust me! And yes, you WILL get the noxious phone calls from the illegal PDls, but you can work you way around that, too. Please keep us posted and if you have any questions at all, this is the place to ask.

You didn't mention the state you are in? Have you already research your pdl's so that you know which are illegal and which aren't?

Eastic and First Bank of Delaware are both legal lenders, they aren't payday lenders so they aren't required to follow the payday loan laws, unfortunately.

I highly doubt any of your other lenders are legal/licensed but I can't make that determination without knowing what state you are located in.

A quick update: My Credit Union has been a big help. What they ended up doing is just closing my account, and when I asked about them still honoring ACH's they said they in fact do not do that, once the account is closed it is closed. We have been with them for 10 years, and they have always done right by us so I trust that in this case they are doing the same. So, now it's a matter of dealing with the high pressure calls that I presume will be starting in the next few days or so. My plan is this going forward- for Elastic and First Bank of Delaware I will be contacting them and finding a different way to pay, these are different types of Banks. For the 1 that was not given enough to at least pay the original balance I will send them a money order for the rest, and for the ones that have received more than enough, I will be ignoring and or aggressively fighting them, I expect everyday. I will keep you all posted.

Just a quick update, today is the day that most of the payments would present and the account won't be there, so I am kind of curious as to how fast it will snowball as far as the emails and calls asking what is wrong with my account. I don't want to jump the gun with the letters so I have not sent them by email or mail yet, I just have them ready.

As far as Elastic and First Bank of Delaware goes, like someone said these are legit banks and not payday lenders, so these loans will stay open and I will continue to pay on them once I establish a way to. I already have a new account and debit cards, does anyone have any input as far as doing things electronically through them with the new account or should that be a thing of the past for now?

I would suggest not to give any new account information to anyone!! They share this information with each other so your new account will not be safe. You can get a pre-paid debit card at Walmart for $3.50 which I believe is re-loadable and give them the card information to debit. Then you can make sure there is money on the card and cut it up once its paid in full.. Just a suggestion.. There are many good people here to help you. Also I would go ahead and send the letters..it might begin a dialog via email and prevent some of the nasty phone calls. At least that has been my experience. Good Luck and keep us posted.

I most definitely wouldn't give out your new personal account numbers to ANYone, even legal lenders. Pay them via the mail, my preference would be money orders but you can choose whatever is most convenient for you, as long as it doesn't include ANY of your new account information.
As far as paying your legal lenders, if it were me, I would send them SOMEthing until I could establish a stable payment plan, as long as you are remaining proactive the chances lessens they will turn the account over to a collection firm, or harass you to death.
The illegal lenders will contact you, no worries there lol, you may want to consider changing any phone numbers you have provided, however, if you don't change them, remember, illegal lenders do NOT negotiate fairly and honestly, and they will use any ploy necessary to take your money, so the less you talk to them, the sooner they will stop calling. Not that it will cease, but give them no one to argue with and they will tire sooner.

No real updates, none of them has sent more than an email, have received a few phone calls but they go straight to voicemail. That being said, I work a strange schedule so this will be my first night of work in 4 days, we will see how my voicemail box look there. Will update later on this evening.

Going smoothly so far, only two that haven't seemed to make any move to contact me are VIPLOANSHOP and NATIONWIDECASH. Zip.19/Northway Financial locked me out of the online access which I expected reading other threads, my Payroll Department has been notified that no lender has the right to assign wages, I sent payroll a copy/email of the same message all of them got. No voicemails or messages at work so far, but I expect a bundle by next weekend, the "good" thing is with my hours I am never there during normal business hours.
