Debt from 07.

Hello,
I open a credit card account in October of 07. I made no payments on the card for about a year (I think). Around that time I decided I wanted to help my credit score, so i sought to pay the money back. I went into Chase, and they told me the account was closed because it had been sold to a debt collector. They put me in contact with the debt collector, who said the account was "charged off" because they had not been able to contact me. I gave up and didnt think anymore about it, until two weeks ago, when I got a letter from a Lawyer in Denver, CO, telling me they were attempting to collect the debt. My questions are, can they still take me to court for this, do they have the right to charge me intrest for this whole time period (they seem to have been charging me $.36 a day), and they told me I last made a payment in January of 2009 but they say they do not know how much the payment was, and I know I did not make a payment at that time. Where can I find out more about the payment they say I made?

Oh yeah....they can still sue you and charge interest. Plus court and legal fees. The last CA you were talking to should have taken your payments.
Jan 09...could that have been your charge off date? When was your last payment.
