I have gotten myself into a huge oayday loan mess. I closed my account today so hopefully they will not do any damage to my account. The person I talked to at the bank said they have noted my reason for account closure and that if any fees or transactions do go through the closed account they would reverse the chareges. Ok, here is my mess; I live in Ca and here are my loans
300 loan have paid 850 with one payment left of 65 to Ameriloan
300 loan have paid 775 with a 437 bal to eastside lenders
300 loan have paid 360 with a 390 balance to US fast cash
250 loan owe 300 with Zip 19
550 loan owe 672 with Zip 19
500 loan owe 660 with Zip 19 nothing has been paid back to any Zip 19 loans yet
What can I do? Are these loans legal in Ca? Can I only be required to pay the priciple loan amounts on the Zip 19 loans and be considered paid on the others since the priciple and them some have been paid? Has anyone had any success dealing with any of these companiies? Thanks

Thank you for your help. I finally finished emailing all of my C&D's. Eastside lenders responded quite quickly with;

East Side Lenders is responding to your correspondence regarding the above-captioned account.

East Side Lenders, which is located in Delaware, is licensed by the State of Delaware to make small loans. All such loans are approved and funded in Delaware, with repayment to be made in Delaware. The East Side Lenders loan agreement and website contain all disclosures required by Delaware and federal law and make it clear that all transactions are governed by Delaware law. On the advice of counsel, East Side Lenders maintains that the choice of Delaware law as controlling in the loan documents would be upheld, as all of the significant contacts in the loan transaction occur in Delaware. The loan agreement is legal and enforceable. In responding to your correspondence, East Side Lenders notes and reserves all available legal and equitable objections to the points you have raised.

East Side Lenders provided this service as a convenience to you. We still consider your loan to be outstanding and are prepared to go to arbitration as provided for in the Loan Agreement between us. As an alternative, if you are experiencing financial hardship, we will be happy to speak to you about payment arrangements through which you can successfully meet your payment obligations. East Side Lenders will consider doing so because of our continuing commitment to servicing our customers and not because of a legal obligation to do so.

Should you have any further questions regarding this matter, if you wish to speak about payment arrangements, please contact us at (800) 689-5603.

Sincerely,

Customer Service

I sent them my original C&D again and reminding them of the facts. I hve heard back yet. Is this usual response?

Still haven't heard anything else from East side, but my husbands Zip 19 account has blocked his access to his account. What does this mean?

Update: Now I have been blocked online access to all of PDL's except easside but the account summary says that the account reactivation is pending and the balance went from 437 to 375. Normal?

It is normal that the lenders locked you out of your accounts. The prevailing theory is that this way you can't access your loan documents, payment record etc. to provide to the regulatory authorities you may be in contact with. As far as Eastside - not sure what that means as I have never dealt with them.

Update; Haven't heard anything back from anyone. Was able to log into Eastside today and the summary page says my account is active and has a 375 bal. I am guessing it os because they tried to process payment today. I do not know what happened with any of the PDL payments that were to be paid today. I closed my bank account. I am a little nervouse about Zip 19 as these were 14 day loans to be paid in full today. I never paid anything on them. I will of course make other arrangements to pay off the principle but I can't pay it all at once.
I feel torn. I am relieved that I had closed my bank account and do not have to deal with paying my bank over draft fees etc. but, I feel guilty and a little scared that I have done something wrong. What a nightmare. I never did this withthe intention of not paying back. I thought I could handle it and needed to keep my electricity on and a roof over my childrens heads. I hope I have done the right thing.

screwedinaz's comment has me thinking. I had the forethought to print copies of my loan history with DiscountAdvances and PayDayIsland. There wasn't really much for me to print from Ameriloan. Maybe we should add the advice to the sticky thread that people should print off any information regarding loan history from their illegal lenders before sending the C&D letter so when they get locked out of their accounts, they still have that information if it is necessary to provide it to the BBB, AG or FTC?

I unfortunately got in the payday loan cycle (7 internet and 2 storefront). I am very glad that when I first took out the internet loans, I printed copies of all the Agreements. Since all 7 of the are illegal to do business in my State, the Attorney General's office was very thankful that I was able to provide them with the contracts when I filed my complaints. Everyone should print out their Contracts.
