Ameriloan Status (California)

I feel the best way to do this is to document my experiences with each company as I hear from them.
Ameriloan..
I have had several loans from them starting in 2007. To date, I have paid them well over $1000 in fees. My goal is to get a Paid in Full letter and a refund.
Yesterday (Oct. 6 2010) I closed out my bank account. Today, I sent them "the letter" via their contact form on their website.
Just now, I got the following canned response:
"Please call 1-800-362-9090 to reach our customer service line.
We are open 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST Monday through Thursday and 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM CST on Friday.
Please contact us with any further questions.
Thank you,
AmeriLoan Customer Service

I replied to their canned response and repeated my demands for a PIF and a refund and reiterated that I will not deal with them over the phone. As of now, I can still log into my account.

Have you filed against them with your states' AG and the California Department of Corporations? Filing complaints will also help you. Keep us posted about the proceedings.

I have not done so yet. I'm attempting to hold the threat of doing so over their heads in order to get my PIF and refund. Then i'll probably do so anyway.

Looks like there was some progress this morning. I could not log into my account. I saw the following note when I tried to log in:
"We are sorry that we are unable to access your account at this time. If you need assistance, please contact us at compliancedepartment@ameriloan.com "
So, given the new email address, I sent them another copy of "the letter" to that address, but added this tidbit at the top:
" I'm glad to see some progress on your end, noting that I could not log into your website this morning. Since I saw this address when I tried to log in, I felt I should send my original letter here as well. You will find it below. Please note that I am NOT going away, and I still require a paid in full letter and a full refund of any and all fees on the current and prior loans above and beyond the principal amount borrowed.
"
We will see what happens next!

Thanks, Paul. I wanted to make sure I provided that additional email address here. It might be a better place to start for the next person who has to deal with this company.

No word from these bottomfeeders yet. I have sent "the letter" again, and adding the following to the top of the letter:
"Since I have yet to receive a "paid in full" letter or my refund, and haven't heard any response from you regarding this matter by the end of business yesterday, I am now taking further action as mentioned in my original letter below. I highly recommend that you contact me asap. I will be communicating with you again later today with copies of the letters I have sent.
Please find my original letter AGAIN below. You may only contact me via email or snail mail."
I am now off to file complaints with my Attorney General, the FTC and the BBB.

For anyone filing a BBB report on AmeriLoan, neither the Nevada or Texas addresses listed are correct. I just got the following email from the BBB (i'm leaving out any information that might identify me):
The company's customer service is handled outside our service area.

I'm asking because I"m in California as well. I have loans eastside kender, once click cash and adbance me today. I closed my acct last week, send out the ceist and desist letters. their checks were retuned on wed, so I'm waiting to see what happens on Monday. I know they are going to be calling like crazy. I hope that I'm strong enugh to deal with them. I hate confratation, but I don't want to keep them all of my money.

I am in Northern California and can share with you what I learned when I went through my PDL hell: First, they will definately be harassing you at home and at work. I did learn that the best defense is a good offense. If you can take your boss into your confidence, tell him or her that you might be getting these phone calls at work, and when they threaten to call your boss, tell them to bring it on. I had to do it and it was humilating, but it was the right thing to do.
You will also have to send each company what we call a Cease and Desist letter. This letter spells out how you may be contacted and make sure they FOLLOW it. The California Dept of Corporations will be very interested to find out how many times they violate it and keep records! You can find a template for a C and D letter on the web site.
Then sit down, figure out how much you have paid each PDL, including rollover fees. Determine what your original loan was for . Once your paid amount goes over that, anything extra is due to you as a refund. Write letters to each PDL demanding any monies owed you.
Most important: you will have to go to your bank, close your account and ask for a new account number. This is MOST important, because these companies will try and hit your account as soon as they know they are not getting anymore free money out of you. Go see your branch manager if you have to. Depending on who you bank with, you should not have any troubles doing this. In my example, I bank with the big bank in California that has the stagecoaches (I'm sure you know who that is, lol..) and they did it for me in a heart beat. Good luck! We are here for you.
