I live in Missouri and I have a payday loan with Zip 19. My hushand got laid off so I did not have the money to pay it all back at once. I tried to make arrangements with them to pay back the $777.97 but they will only take the full amount. If I do not pay them back next week, they have informed me that I will be forwarded to thrid party collection and a garnishment will be taken out of my check.

Can they garnish my wages? If so, what is the process and how much can they take?

I am willing to pay them back but they are unwilling to work with me. I need to know what my options are. I am the only one working and do not want to be embarrassed at my workplace.

Zip19 is an illegal payday loan lender. They cannot go for garnishment since they will have to take out a court border in order to garnish your wages. Close your bank account asap and send a notification to Zip19 that you are revoking all ACH authorizations and wage assignment. Give a copy of the wage assignment revocation to your Human Resource department.

Alice, the problem with payday loans are...they are very difficult to be regulated with so many companies operating from around the world. It is difficult to contain such illegal companies. It is better to file complaints against them with the legal authorities like the FTC, the BBB and your states' Attorney Generals' office. It will, eventually, help the authorities to put a ban on these illegal PDL companies.
