We are at the 90 day or close (within next 2 weeks) with all of our accounts. The waiting has been so nerve wracking. Anyway today in the mail we received an offer on each of my 2 Chase accounts saying they will settle for 70% of the balance. Our plan is to call them Monday and offer about 20% (a round # a bit higher than 20%) and see where that takes us. Balance on the 2 cards is $14,700.. I have my fingers crossed and feel good that we are starting these talks. Any advice or anything I'm not thinking of?

Wow! So we called Chase today about the 70% offer they sent us

Wow! So we called Chase today about the 70% offer they sent us and we said we could come up with 20% (we talked dollars). She told us that they couldn't do that low but that they could take 30%. So we told her we would see if we could come up with a way to get more cash and would call back. We are at 96 days now so in a few days and offer a little more and see what happens. If they wont budge off of 30% we will probably take it and get it done and off the list. Feeling good right now. Would love to slay one dragon and then move on to the next.

I just got off the phone with a collection agent from Chase and

I just got off the phone with a collection agent from Chase and they accepted my settlement offer of 10%. They say that they will only fax or e-mail me the settlement offer, How do I know if it will really settle my debt with them?
