I have just received an "Upgrade" to my credit card which I have had since 1978. That's correct. 1978. Last year they reduced my credit line by 50%. I pay every bill, on time and in full, and have no debt on the card other than the annual fee of $15, for which I have not yet received a new bill (But am told I have that debt outstanding even though the bill has not been sent). Here's their mistake, which the "customer service" employee, who will not make a supervisor available to me (I am currently on the phone - I said I'd wait) admitted was a mistake: Literature accompanying the new card says "Better Service. More benefits. Still no annual fee." Customer service says the account remains the same, despite the fact that the old card (exp 10/12) has a different number, which means that I will still owe the fee even though I have been upgraded to a no fee card. Once I get the bill, that has not yet been sent.
I think, in this time of heightened dislclosure in the banking industry, that this is appalling. I am now waiting for the supervisors to get out of their 2 hour meeting so I can get this addressed. What do you think my chances are?????

I think if you have something in writing that says there will be no annual fee, you should be able to get them to honor it. Trouble is, they are extending you credit and, if they so choose, can cancel/close your account at any time (with or without cause). Since you don't carry a balance at all, hence they aren't making any money off of you, that might be an option they exercise. Who's the company?
