I am wondering if any one can tell me anything about them. I looked up by phone number and they are first asset recovery group.
They said i took out a payday loan of 300$ and i owe 311$ to cash central. I think i might have, 3 years ago. I admit it was a bad time for me and i closed my account and that was it. I thought nothing of it. I got a few notices by email and i started getting calls and now they said they are sending it to the legal dept of First Asset. Are they going to sue me? I am really worried. They said i could pay it and it would be fine. But i don't know for sure if it is mine and they woh't let me research it, they said i had time for that and now they are sending it to legal dept. What does that mean to me? I have just spent the 2 years rebuilding my credit so i can buy a home in january and i don't want this to be a judgement against me and go on my credit. He wouldn't even give me his number there or name. I don't have an address for them or anything, he said at this point if i don't admit to it there is nothing he can do except send it to the legal dept.
Please someone help.
Thanks,
T

Never admit to owing a debt over the phone, it could be anyone, this is why the FDCPA (Federal Debt Collections Practices Act) requires third party collectors to send a dunning letter (letter of collections) via the mail within 5 days after they contact you, so, tell them you can't and won't discuss ANY alleged debt over the telephone and all they are to you is a voice on the phone, explain that they are bound by the FDCPA and if they do not comply you will be forced to file a detailed complaint against them with the FTC, BBB and your Attorney General's office. In the meantime, keep records of all communication between you and them, ask the name of the representative calling, note the date and time of the calls and the date you warn them not to call you again until they send you a dunning letter, this way you will be able to file detailed concise complaints against them, and you should follow through on these complaints.

Ok, thank you. I did not admit to owing anything. I am just concerned now by them saying they will send it to the legal dept. they will sue me. Although i am not sure why they would sue over 311$ but i guess they could.
They had my phone number and i assume they have my address but i don't know that for sure. I am not sure i have recieved anything in the mail from them. Not recently anyway.

Is there anything else i should do? Will they really sue me or take me to court? I am very nervous about someone showing up at my job with a summons to take me to court. Is this company known to sue? I cannot find much on them. I heard there is a sol but its 4 years in Tx and they told me it was 3 years ago, so they could still try and sue me for the money is that correct?

you need not worry as anybody attempting to collect must have a bond posted with your DFI/AG.check both sites to confirm this.bottomline,if they don't post that bond they can't do squat.every threat is hot air meant to scare you into paying them.file police reports for the calls.then file AG,and FTC complaints against this place then either ignore them,or hang up on them if you get caught on the phone.also demand details in writing.it is a federal law that 5 days after initial contact they are required to send a letter stating who they are and who they are collecting for.the fact that they threaten like they do tells me this is not legit at all.

Oh ok. Ok I will demand in writing if i do get caught on the phone with them. I haven't seen anything in writing and haven't confirmed my address with them so don't even know if they have that. This bond thing, if they do this, will i be notified or know about it that they did? Thanks for all the information. It makes me nervous. I see their website but i can't find anything else on them as far as if theyve collected from people or not. I can't find anything in the forums about them unless im missing it. Thanks again. I appreciate all the support and help here.

no no.the bond thing is this.anybody who wants to collect in texas must post a bond of either 5,000 or 10,000 dollars.i can't recall which, but if they don't have that bond then they can't collect on this.however you must excerise this info yourself.if you know this it will make collecting from you difficult.that is how the bond for collectors works in texas.as far as i know they one of if not the only state that requires it.
