Well, I knew it would be coming. Tonight I got a voice mail message from "Mark" at VIP Cash to tell me that he has unusually great news that would save me money on my loan. The only news that he can give me is that they are marking my loan PIF and they are refunding the $1000 that I've overpaid them. I think I'm resending my email to them tonight.

Well, Mark got through to me today at work. My calls are not screened, so he got through. He told me that I had a balance due on $965 and that they would waive $365 in fees and I could pay the balance in 4 installments of $150. I think not. I told him that the loan was illegal in MD and that I was only obligated to pay the principal amount of $600, which I've already paid back, not including the $1010 add'l charges I paid. He did acknowledge that I paid quite more than the original loan, and he really didn't put up much of a fight. Guess he realized that I was budging. Told me that he was turning it over to their legal department. Oh, and I also told him that I filed complaints with BBB, FTC and my AG's office and my AG's office was quite interested in the fact that they are still issuing loans in MD when they know they're illegal and have been for a very long time. Guess I'll see what happens next.

They DEFINITELY have their own ideas of "legal;" I'm also in Maryland and told the PDLs that the Dept. of Financial Regulation in Maryland and state Attorney General said the PDls were illegal; one PDL told me that the MD Government was wrong! O-kay.... (by the way you might also want to contact the Dept. of Financial Regulation in Baltimore if you're in MD, for additional help and advice; their contact info is listed w/ the MD State laws on this site)
