Is gambling debt can be included in debt settlement or bankruptcy?

Credit card advances for cash (used for gambling) can be included in settlement. However, the creditor might not settle if the cash advances were recent. PDL balances you handle the same way - pay back what you borrowed only, if the PDL company is illegal in your state.

I am ashamed to admit it, but I had high credit card balances which included gambling debt, but the advances were done well over 3-4 years ago.

My first step was to join gamblers anonymous and have an on-line support group.

I am glad to say (and relieved) that my two high balance cards (Bank of A and Citi) will be entirely settled by January 2011. Citi will be completely settled this month, and it did include gambling debt.

Owing to a casino is another story. I never borrowed from them.

Hope this helps.
