my "Aunt" recently passed away owing about $2400 to Capital One. No children, no siblings (I am not a blood relative at all) no authorized signers on the account. I am in charge of her affairs. I called them to report her passing, and now an agency sent a letter to the "family" requesting help with getting this debt paid. The little bit of insurance she had barely paid the funeral, and she left a little to my mom, who is on ss only. I know neither of us is obligated to pay this debt at all, and I have no intention of paying it - just wanted some advice, do I send them a letter, or call them, or ignore? I just don't want them calling my Mom & bothering her , as she still lives in the mobile home til it is sold. (it is in her name) thanks
