I live in PA and have a few pdl's outstanding. I am using a company to handle my debts as I don't really have the time to do so on my own.

The problem I am having is one of the companies I took a pdl through, Magnum Cash Advance, has sent my account in to collections with a company called National Service Bureau. They have attempted to contact me a few times through my cell number. I do not answer these calls as they are supposed to be handled by the company I am using to do that. They called me at work on 11/3/10 and I told the rep that I cannot be contacted at work. Today 11/9/10, she called again. This time I just asked for her name and contact number to give it to the company that is handling my debts.

When I called the company I use to handle my debts, they said they would only call the company and attempt to have the calls stopped. Are there any actions I can take against the company calling me at work? And, is the company I am using to handle my debts doing everything they are supposed to do?

Thanks for any help,

Ken

Hi OP,

Do you know that all PDL lending are prohibited in your state? And the fact that you are only obligated to pay the actual amount of loan taken?

Illegal companies are not bound to listen to you or follow the FDCPA. File cases against them with the FTC, your states' Attorney General, the BBB and the Pennsylvania Department of Banking.

Looking through the forums I took note that all PDL's are illegal in PA. The companies I took loans out through, although I call them pay day loans, call themselves short term installment loan companies (or some variation).

Are these still considered pay day loan compaines? Do they fall under the same set of rules as pdl companies? I am seriously confused and a little worried about getting dragged into court.

Also, since no creditor is required to participate through any debt management company, am I just spinning my wheels with them and wasting money?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated,

ken

The original loan came through a company called Magnum Cash Advance. They state on their site they are "Smarter than a Payday Loan". BBB states they are located in Wilmington, DE. I originally took out I believe 700 or 900. The collection company wants around 1800.

I also have some loans through CashJar, Cash in a Wink, First Bank of Delaware, Elastic.com (Urban Bank), Northway Financial (don't remember the original company, they make the withdrawls and deposits tho), and a few others I can't recall off the top of my head right now.

The company I am using to handle these debts said they have dealt with these companies in the past and there shouldn't be much concern getting them taken care of. I signed up with them in August, the same time I stopped making payments to these companies.

p.s. I attempted to register on the site, but keep getting an error. Anyone know who I should contact to get registered?

Thanks,

Ken
