I recieved a phone call today from 661-532-8208, claiming he was was Shawn Smith with "loan group of california." They said there was a lawsuit against me. They wanted my lawyer's name and number. I said who are you representing? He said your not aware of this? I said no. He said let me transfer you to our legal department. 2 seconds later a man answered that sounded exactly like the previous. I am not aware of any lawsuit. Is there any precautions i need to take while talking with these people? Is there a website for Louisiana, to look up lawsuits filed? Please answer asap, im trying to head off trouble before it starts and trying not to screw up. I have debt and have ducked alot and am trying to currently fix everything. I have been receiving numorous calls from debt collectors and lawyers in last few months. I think my information went public thanks to filing for payday loans on the internet and this may be a true debt but have no info.

The man who called me said his name is David Smith, he had a very heavy foreign accent so I don't believe that his name is correct. I also was told that I had a payday loan that was not payed back and I have a court date in the next couple of days. If I didn't pay them now I would be arrested on that day and taken to jail.

Don't believe this call if you get it. They are just scamsters.

If there was such a law suit you would of received something in the mail unless you've recently moved and left no forwarding address. Sounds to me like a scam. I have received a similar for months now and I don't answer the phone any more when a number comes up that I don't reckonize. If you talk to this person again ask him to send you the information in the mail. Don't give him your address because if he is a legal collection agency they will already have that information. You are correct PDL's share information.

Thank you all, I was pretty sure this was the case and its funny I got them to give me a number to call back and I get a voicemail with another heavy foreign accent saying please try your call again later. I have also come to the conclusion that the name is actually Law group of California and I went on the bbb site, looked up that name and it does come up with complaints. Says that they showed up on their radar in sept. 2010 and wont answer them and have a rating of F. Does anyone know the statute of limitations concerning a debt to a payday loan in the state of Louisiana?

OUCH thanks. Goes to show you Louisiana sucks. This state is all about big business and never helps the working man. And by this I mean just like in employment, an employer in Louisiana can fire you or let you go at anytime they wish with no cause and does not have to give you a pink slip or allow for you to file unemployment. Crooked politicians and cops, etc.
