Bounced Business Check

Ok so me and my partner own a kiosk and recently cannot make rent...but we found this out after writing the mall management their check for 7k for november..
We thought that we would have the 7k by the time the check cashes but that is not the case. We make around 4k a month on non busy months and so far in November we have made sales that are 1500 so far... we seriously cannot make rent!!
I wish I did not give that check to mall management.
Can I get into trouble for a bounced check even though that was not my intent? I should have just left the mall instead of writing the check but we didn't know that we wouldn't have funds.
Would filing bankruptcy do anything?
