HSBC Direct Merchants & Beneficial settling
Date: Mon, 11/15/2010 - 11:03
I owe approximately 1,300.00 on a Direct Merchants (now HSBC) credit card and approximately 11,000 to Beneficial. I am now about 40 days late on payments and have sent both creditors a settlement letter, crafted from your DIY section. I have received acknowledgements of the letters from both companies asking me to call them. I am trying to settle for 400.00 on the DM and 2,100 on the Beneficial loan. How should I handle the telephone calls? I don't want to come across too pushy, but I'm not going to let them run over me either. Just would like some advice before I plunge in. Has anyone had any experience with either of these outfits?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Clarify your financial position to them so that they approve you
Clarify your financial position to them so that they approve your proposal. They won't agree to your proposal at first. But, you will have to be patient and be persistent on your negotiation. It might happen that your accounts might get transfered to a collection agency. Don't worry, you can negotiate with them as well and might be able to get a better deal.
