I am trying to figure out the best way to attack the payday loans I have. I currently have:

CashJar - owe $550
Think Cash - owe $600
Upfront Cash - owe $450
Upfront Payday - owe $585
EZ Payday - owe $325
Lakota Cash - owe $292

I live in the state of VA....are any of these lenders illegal? Would it be best to work with a consolidation company?

Think Cash is not a payday lender and you have to pay them back as per the agreement and applicable states' laws.

Others are internet payday loans and internet PDLs are illegal in Virginia. You need to close your account to protect it from these illegal lenders. Read the following thread to know how to deal with these illegal lenders: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/illegal-pdl-dealings.html.

Listen to Paul and Shazzers both! Be sure to file your complaints with the AG, FTC and BBB after you've closed your bank account. Revoke your ACH and any wage assignments with the illegal lenders. Other than thinkcash if you've paid back the original principle amount you need to demand a refund and paid in full letter. Be sure to do all of your communications with the illegal lenders via email, fax or mail. Don't make deals over the phone. With thinkcash I have an account with them and your best bet is to purchase a money card like a Wal Mart money card, load your payment and call them the day it's due and give them the card information. That's what I do and it works great. I did call thinkcash though and revoke my ACH before I started making payments over the phone. Although the FDIC closed my bank I still revoked the ACH otherwise they will try and withdraw money from a closed account and charge you the fee.
