how can i owe money cause i have already paid the bank more than $ 2,000.00 in overdraft fees due to payday loans. Have you ever gone through nearly $ 3,000.00 in 6 months for no reason other than the greedy banks who take money while the poor poor person has to come up with a way to pay this money and has to go to illegal lenders on the internet to pay that amount off

There are places to complain about being taken advantage of with overdraft fees etc which are the subject of recent regulations which change whether or not banks are able to charge you overdrafts. Did you opt in for coverage in the future? Now you must OPT IN and are not just automatically signed up for overdraft coverage. The banks will try to pressure you by sending repeated notices about opting in.
Check this list and make complaints as appropriate maybe you will get some relief that way. :)

whats the use of opting in when you or the bank won't give you any overdraft protection plus the overdraft protection coverage was closed off when the card or the bank took over another bank.
Soaplady i emailed them numerous times guess i have to go into the bank myself although i am afraid i will be arrested cause of the overdrafted account.

My point was that now you MUST OPT-IN or else your charges will not be paid by the financial institution and therefor they cannot charge you an overdraft fee.
You said you had been charged exorbitant amounts for overdrafts and so forth. Perhaps I should have worded it another way. That being that you will no longer be subjected to overdraft fees unless you have opted in for coverage. If you don't opt-in more than likely your debits/charges/checks will not be paid and it will be up to you to address those issues with those to whom you made promises to pay.
IF you opted-in and they are not covering your overdrafts then you need to ask your bank why they are not. Because if they agree to cover you for overdrafts and they are not then they are not abiding their agreement with you. It could be that with the new bank taking over you must opt-in again. Did you ever opt-in once the new rules were in place and you were no longer automatically enrolled in overdraft "protection".
I myself find this a huge improvement over the way it was in the past because my charges were not always known to me exact dates and so I did get a lot of overdraft charges. I asked the bank how I could remedy these exorbitant fees and they told me I could sign up for a credit card that would be used to pay the amounts overdrafted but I did not qualify for the credit card. They said I could link two accounts such as a savings and a checking and i told them I did not have two accounts so there was nothing to link.
Now this is the part where things seem to be better. The way it is now I would have never been covered unless I requested it and if I had been it seems like they would have been obligated to say that I could always opt out of coverage.
i was never told i could opt-out so these fees kept coming in as always which caused really big problems. Its not what people think that you are just careless. no one is going to write checks or use a debit card knowing they don't have the money.
The really abusive thing to me was that the banks without fail juggled the charges to put the largest one through first which meant that whereas i might have had only one charge "bounce" I could have multiple bounces. Once I was less than $10 overdrawn yet because of their manipulation of the order of them I owed $120 in overdrafts which seems to me to be clearly taken advantage of.
I have no sympathy for the banks who don't tell people they can opt out and who manipulate the order of the checks to get the most money out of overdrafts.
i asked for an explanation of why they would reorder the way the checks were submitted and was told it was (trying to make it sound like they were looking after MY best interests) because it was assumed that the bigger items might be for more important things like rent or mortgage and so they were sure I'd want those paid. The problem with that thinking is that they never denied any of the charges so by putting them through largest first or largest last the same number of charges went through, none were denied so their putting largest through first changed nothing as to what they covered for me. But they can "manipulate" to make it sound like something special they've done for you.
I've learned to be very skeptical of my "bankers" good intentions. I'm afraid bankers are more like the ones you see in It's a Wonderful Life who don't care if they destroy a whole family, it is all greed-motivated.
