Hi! I, like many others, am in payday heck right now. Great site and through some posts I was able find the site (OCCC) where I can verify if payday loan is licensed in my state (Texas). I don't know if I'm searching right (looked up under name and dba name), but I think I may have some payday loans that are legal but not showing up. Here's my list(all acquired online):

ABC Payday loan - $350 loan, have paid $525 so far
Payday-loan-yes - $350 loan, have paid $525 so far
Cash in a Wink - $500 loan, have paid $350 so far
CK Marketing - $300 loan, have paid $270
Speedy Cash - $1000, I have been paying in full and renewing every two weeks, coming due next week

I believe Speedy Cash is completely legal even though their name doesn't show up in database - I think I saw where they're a member of group that allows EPPs.

I saw ABC Payday loan as a dba of Auxiliary Businesses of Champs inc - does that mean they're legal in Texas? I thought Payday-Loan-Yes was same company but they don't show up.

Any info on the others? Are they legal? Can I just pay what I owe?

I've just closed my bank account and opened another (I need to pay my rent!). I want to pay what I owe - just not all these fees every two weeks.

Thanks again for reviewing and help.

ABC Payday Loan is legal in Texas as they are situated in Texas.
Payday-loan-yes, Cash in a Wink and CK Marketing are illegal in the state of Texas. You only owe them the actual amount borrowed. File cases against these illegal PDL lenders with the BBB, your states' AG and the Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner.

Pay day loan yes is calling my boss. I work in a corporate office and it's horrible! I'm calling them now to ask for their TX license number. Good luck to you.

I have started paying one at a time off... so far 2 down, 3 to go... UGH!

Had to change my bank acct and phone number.

They are NOT licensed/legal anywhere. CLICK HERE to find out how to deal with illegal lenders.

I live in TX and have been messed up with payday loans for the last ten years. In 2010, i had to get myself out. I had 6 loans, I owed each between $500-$1500. I closed my checking account and opened a new one (with the same bank). I waited one payday to contact the payday loan companies. I wanted them to be aware that the account was closed. All the companies worked with me. They gave me a set amount to be paid off. For instance my $500 loan was originally $150 every 2 weeks (interest only), the set the amount to be paid at $650. I paid the $650 off in 3 months, interest no longer accrued every payday. One company that I owed $950 actually settled for one payment of $380. The only drawback was I did have to set up automatic withdraw. I only committed to payments through email. I was very specific. for example: " Per our communication, I (my name), agree to pay $380 on (specify date). This will settle my debt of $950 with (payday loan company's name). I only authorize this one payment. I do not give authorization for any other payments." Another draw back is they may report "settled" to the credit bureaus but to me this was better than never being able to pay them off. I hope this helps. I didnt go through any debt company to help me. I did it all on my own.
