I live in IL. The other day I noticed in one of my email addresses that someone had taken out an Installment Loan under my name, info, and even email address with CashNetUSA (legal in IL). When I logged into the account (resetting the password), the bank info the loan was supposedly deposited into wasn't mine (the institution wasn't name). I know I need to file a police report, fraud alert to my credit file, the FTC, etc. I've ordered a copy of credit.

However, I logged into the CNU acct again this morning, and my real bank info had replaced the prior account info (I've printed out the pages showing the difference). My issue now is that money is going to come out of my real account for a loan I never wanted and I never even received the funds (again, deposited into someone else's account). What do I do now???

Does CNU have to tell me the name of the institution this loan was deposited into under my name? God, who knows how many other PDLs have been taken out in my name, deposited into other accounts and then switch info with mine so I get hit with the fees and such. Is there any hope? Does CNU take ID fraud seriously??

S-O-S
Thanks!

Something doesn't sound right. CashnetUSA is a legal lender, and they do everything by the book. I used to have a loan with them and when the state I'm in made payday loans illegal, they worked with me to get my balance paid off within 2 payments. I would call them to find out what is going on. You can request a copy of the original loan document that should tell you everything you need to know. It would have to be filled out with address, employer, etc. They will also tell you when a debit is made what to look for on your bank statement. That way you can contact your bank. Sound's like you had better close your bank account because someone could be a friend, family member, etc. that has your information.

I know this is all messed up and I know that CNU is legal. But what is weir dis the account the loan originally went in to wasn't mine (the site doesn't say what institution the account was in). Then I looked at it this morning and the account info had been switched. I did NOT request this loan, I did NOT receive the money, and I don't know where to even begin.

What's the routing number for the bank that received the deposit? Contact your bank and let them know what's going on. They may give you a new account number to avoid any fraudulent charges. You should contact CNU, file a police report and also put a fraud alert on your credit bureau reports.
