Has anyone been sued by this company for old debt? I recently got a collections letter stating I owe twice the debt about (due to their fees) and that my account has not yet been viewed by their attorneys. The debt is from 2006. I have since lost my job and got divorced. I am now a college student. I own Nothing. What could they possibly do to me or take from me??

If there is a case filed against you and you fail to respond you will be making a big mistake because they almost certainly will get a default judgment against you. The fact that you have no job and have nothing NOW is not a reason to respond because someday you may have something worth going after and they may very well step in at that time to take what you have.

Why take a chance? Respond and make them prove their case. IF they a 3rd party debt buyer they probably can't even prove they own the debt or even half the things they need to prove to sustain their claim.:D
