Has anyone here ever dealt with these PDLs? I've already paid them over the principal balance so I'm about ready to send out my C&D letters and was wondering how difficult, or hopefully easy, these companies are to work with? Thanks.

Payday loans are prohibited in the state of N.Y., therefore, I wouldn't even attempt to negotiate with any of these lenders, if they want paid at least the principal amount you borrowed then they will need to meet your terms, otherwise there isn't a whole heck of a lot they can do about it.

I just got this response from the New York State Banking Department, kind of worries me:

Unfortunately Payday Loan Companies are not in our jurisdiction. They operate over the internet and are domiciled in States that do not have usury ceilings. When you borrow from a payday lender over the internet you are deemed to be borrowing in their home State. Therefore, it is legal to charge the high rates you are currently paying.
