You need to tell them they aren't getting a penny from you unless they provide you proper validation of the alleged debt. They will NOT be able to do this. If they refuse, hang up and don't talk to them again. File a police report and tell anyone you used as a reference and your employer that YOU have been a victim of fraud and that they should also ignore the calls.
Thank you The last time they also would not let me pay it over

The last time they also would not let me pay it over time - If I make a reasonable offer can they turn me down?

Deej, you aren't listening. You probably don't even owe them ANYTHING. Ask them for validation in writing. Trust me, they will NOT be able to produce it. When they don't, IGNORE them!!!!!

Deej, Listen to those on this forum. I get similar phone calls and they've never been able to provide me with the documentation I've requested. They always want information from you but they are never willing to provide you with any. Just idol threats!

OK - I spoke to the guy - it was horrible, absolutely horrible - I am shaking like a leaf. He was calling himself "officer" and "deputy" He said this was not a debt it is an affidavit that may not be the right word that I was already notified, He is going to handle this case personally to make sure I get prosecuted to the full extent. I kept sticking to the debt verification he said it is already in the process and this is not a debt??? What does that mean?- papers to be filed. He told me basically that he did not have to put up with me that he was doing me a favor by giving me a chance to pay up. He would not even tell me the company - that the girl had already given me enough information. I kept saying he needed to prove who he is. Anyway he said he would not talk to me anymore and to have my attorney call. I don't mind saying I scared - I know what you are saying but still the whole thing scares me. I did stick to verifying the debt. What else should I do to protect my self?
OK, so they initially called you and couldn't say how much you o
OK, so they initially called you and couldn't say how much you owed, they won't identify the company you supposedly owed the money to, right? Yes, they COULD have a California area code, but that doesn't mean they're in California. I had one PDL which was located in the UK, their call center was in India, and they used a Utah phone number. Can I ask you, did any of the people you spoke with have a heavy accent? It's very possible they're not even located in this country. It's possible one of your former PDLs sold your personal information to this company. And as far the guy calling himself officer or deputy, I don't suppose he said what agency he was an officer or deputy with, did he? (didn't think so) You are well within your rights to get something in writing regarding this debt, but I'm betting you never will. If they call again, don't admit over the phone to owing money; tell them you want to see something in writing and that is THAT. But please do not pay anyone money on the basis of a phone call, that could be just about anybody calling you up. And of course, if you have questions, please ask them, many of us have been in the same position. By the way, do you by chance have the telephone number and/or name of this company? It's possible people here have had experience with them.

I have a phone number a woman's name Emily Woods - yes heavy accent sounds like east indian - State brueau of "Couldn't understand what she said" but it sounded like Mari landphone number 3104587129.Originally she gave me a name of who is "prosecuting" me but I again did not understand and she told me not to inturrept until she finished reading the charges - then everything changed because I had asked for verification and that seemed to confuse her and she wanted to talk to her boss then i discovered you guys and I found out I realy could ask for more information

Dee -- don't even talk to these people until they provide you written proof that you do owe the loan and that they are authorized to collect from you. Believe me, they won't be able to produce any type of documentation. Next time they call, just yell right back at them and tell them to send you written proof and before they can even answer slam the phone down in their ear. Don't let these people stress you out or upset you. They are scammers. Trust this forum. We have all been there and have heard it all.

That's crazy, the SS office couldn't care less what loans you have or don't have, and SS can not be garnished. Tell them to kiss off.
What state are you in? What is the name of the pdl's, are they Internet or store front loans?
