Alright, I have been doing alot of thinking today about my situation of collection agencies and orginal creditors giving me the blow off when have I contacted them over and over again. (we're talking a year now). These accounts are in 'charge off' mode on my credit reports. I ask CA for validation-get nothing-talk to OC and ask for information-they tell me to talk to CA---in other words, I'm chasing my tail. I'm thinking of writting them all letters again, just for the sake of my paper trail, and who knows, maybe I will hear something back this time--doubtful though, I haven't so far.

So, other than hiring a lawyer, which I clearly don't have the money for---should I consider writing letters to the FTC, BBB and to the State Attorney General? If so, how anyone here done that before??
I was just wondering how I should go about doing it? Do I just put it all out there plan and simple? or is there a format that I should follow?

I have disputed with the credit bureaus---they sent me back their results. one bureau has 'updated' but the others haven't. I have found that its such a pain trying to get all three of the bureaus on the same page! you know, reporting the same thing. But I am disputing again!!! I guess I will continue until they say "look-you're a pain-go away". But if no one will talk to me and help me get these debts cleared up, why should I continue to be punished for it? If they're going to ignore me until SOL run out, fine I guess, but I wish I knew what they were doing. I don't want any surprise attacks by sheriffs at my front door with court summons over these accounts. Thats the only thing I worry about---being sued, going to court and garnishments. Thats why I have worked so hard in trying to get these debts "worked out". thanks for any advice with this! shirley

Shirley, it's nice that you want to cover your base legally although you have already done it numerous times but got no results. There is no specific format to be used while you are explaining your grievances to the FTC or the local AG's service. You are using any of their services so make your letter very simple and everything clearly explained.

Most of the times, AG's office does the rest of the correspondences with the concerned companies and get the results of your dispute. In case they don't achieve the results, they will respond you saying..'we are sorry..we tried to contact the company... but.."

Now, this statement from the AG's office covers your base more strongly. Despite you contacting your collectors, the AG's office also came out unsuccessful just like you were. So, the judge has to make good decisions if the matter reaches the court.

Nothing to worry about..It's just that some things take a complex shape but ultimately get resolved.

Hi Shirley,

I would be frustrated too. I know when I file a complaint with my AG's office, I can do it online. They just ask questions and you fill in the blank. I'm not sure how your state's site work but Ohio is pretty good. They leave a space where you can go into more detail. I becoming a whiz at this lately.

OMG!! I went to the Tennessee State attorney generals website and it has a link for 'online services' and theres so much to choose from. I'm not sure what my complaint/situation would be considered as, 'consumer complaints'??? If you guys want to check it out, you can do a yahoo search for tennessee state attorney general and it will bring it right up. (not sure I'm allowed to post the link here). I just need a little help in what to say and how to address this to him. I mean, I don't want to get into all of this with him and he's thinking, gez, what the heck are you writing me about all this crap for.

Our attorney General is named Paul Summers. He is an active martial artist and karate instructor. He has earned the black belt.
wow!!!

Shirley, this is one I can help you with. Go into the consumer protection part and click file complaint and it walks you through what to do. They want the information in chorological order. Believe it or not, our attorney general in Tennessee does listen. Takes about thirty days for the complaint to be processed, then once they hear back they will notify you by mail of the results and if you don't like the results, you can keep the case open and rebut what the creditor said. I was told that they get to the info quicker by submitting it online. If you want help going through the site, pm me and I will walk you through it.
