Me: Lives in NC and only have been sucked in for 2 months with PDL

My next date of WD is after Christmas. I have just stumbled onto your forum and would like some advise :-)

There has been no action yet....The plan is to go and talk with my credit union about putting a hard hold on the account or opening up a new checking account.

Loans:

Loan Shop Online $300 Paid $390 (loan + fee)

Loan Shop Online $400 Paid $520 (loan + fee)

Has anyone every gotten a refund???

United Cash Loans $300 paid $180

Ace Cash Services (now Advantage Cash Services) $300 paid $90

USFast Cash $300 paid $0

I have located the sample letter online. I can have all calls forwarded to voice mail at work. I do not answer my cell phone unless I know the number.

I am concerned that they will harass my references....Do they do much of that? or do they just come after me?

Any other tips I need to be aware of ???

Thanks in Advance :-)

You're on the right track. LSO is actually pretty quick to respond. I received a refund from them of about half of what I overpaid. Both of your LSO loans were overpaid and you should request a full refund of the overpayment (anything above the principal amount borrowed). UCL, you owe $120. ACS, you owe $210 and USFC you owe $300. Definitely go to your bank and secure the account either via the hard debit block or by having them change your account number or close and reopen an account. Make sure that the old and new accounts are in no way linked. After the account is secure, send your illegal letter lenders and make sure to include language stating you are revoking ACH authorization and any wage assignments. Give a copy of this letter to both your bank/CU and your HR department. If you stay in contact with them, there is no reason for them to contact your references. Some will, just to be a-holes but, I would let those people know that you have been a victim of fraud and that, if they receive a call, they should answer once, tell them that they are aware this is fraud and then never pick up the phone again when called by these people.

I hope this is helpful. Good luck to you and please keep us posted on your progress.

Yes, reporting them to both agencies is a good idea. Also, if they're illegal in your state but legal elsewhere, I like to report them to their state's AG and their state's BBB as well. The more negative feedback they get, the less likely they are to stay in business. And their state's AG will compile those complaints and revoke their license if they continue to operate illegally by loaning in other states illegally.

Does Magnum Cash advance have different address, I have an address for wilmington and they sent me an email from National something about my payment. I tried to go their website and check to see what I owe, and can't get into my account. Now that I have been reading these forums I have never signed anything with Magnum, and they never disclosed their APR, interest rates. I have had loans with them before and all you do is tell how much, and away it goes into your account. I saw that on another post about them being in the British Virgin Isle's?

I have gone to my bank and opened a new checking account. I am waiting for a new debit card. Once I receive that and everything has cleared I will send the letters.

Once more question...with them know all my personal info...do I need to do anything to protect my credit. Do they ever try to get even with opening things?

The best way to protect your new account information is not to obtain anymore loans over the Internet, because payday lenders share information.

Thanks

I do not plan to get anymore PDLs...I was just wondering if they ever use your information to steal your identity...
Also is there anything that I should print from my PDL accounts before they block me??

Sorry, I didn't explain what I meant very well, I wasn't insinuating that you were planning to get anymore pdl's, what I was trying to say was; since payday lenders share information, if you (or anyone else) were to get a payday loan after they had to close their account because of previous ones, then you used your new account info to obtain this loan the chances are extremely high the previous payday lenders would be able to obtain your new account info because Internet payday lenders share information.

As far as them stealing your identity, I wouldn't put it past them, I do know they obviously give out personal information to illegal collection agencies, and only God knows who else.
