PIF PDL still trying to collect
Date: Fri, 12/10/2010 - 06:40
In June I paid off a Payday Loan with Cash Jar. This loan had made it's way to a third party. We settled on a lesser amount of the original loan because I had made some payments towards the principle already. I thought this was a done deal. Yesterday I received a call at my job from a Miss Yvonne, calling from: 713-777-2500. I couldn't talk to her since I had co-workers surrounding me, but I did tell her I would call her back. I tried and every time I put her ex in I was disconnected. I left a message with the main number letting them know this loan was paid off in June and I have the paperwork to prove it. I can fax them the letter (I did acquire their fax #) but I wanted to do that from a Staples location, and not at work. Miss "Yvonne" was very aggressive and kept calling back and shouting, "HR please". Any advice here?? Or has this happened to anyone else? A loan paid off and someone else calling to collect on it?
Thanks!
Heather

Happens all the time. Did she give you a name for this collection agency or any other contact info other than the phone number? I had this happen and it was a legit, albeit scummy, collection agency calling me. I simply sent a copy of my PIF letter to the CEO, COO and CFO of the CA and they apologized profusely. I've never heard from them again. I think it's honestly just a last ditch effort to squeeze you for some more money.
Gotcha. I do have the PIF letter. I am planning to fax it today.
Gotcha. I do have the PIF letter. I am planning to fax it today. Thank you for the reply. The woman spoke so quickly I couldnt catch the name of the agency she represented. A search of their phone number 713-777-2500 says they are "First IRS". They said I took the loan out in June, which is not true... June is when I paid it off!! If they call me again today I will be sure to tell them the same.

Hiya hez, long time no see!
6 months later and they are trying to collect again, this is one of the reasons why I tell people they need to close their account. While months and even years may pass and you may think everything is resolved then BOOM, these illegal lenders show their ugly faces again making erroneous claims.
It's been about 3 years since I resolved all of my payday loan problems and I still receive an occasional threatening email, they can't call me because I changed my number, and they can't access my bank account because it's closed, however, I can guarantee you if I had kept either of them they would still be calling and still trying to take money out of my account, hence, always close your account.
I am sure things will work out in your favor hez, stay in touch.

Hez, make sure you don't fax them from your job. You don't want them to start faxing your personal business all over your company.

Thanks everyone :) I appreciate the comments. It's always reassuring to check in here. I plan to fax from Staples after work. I printed out my PIF letter. I am working with a consolidation group and they told me they can provide me with the voided check if need be to prove my case here. Thanks again to all. Good luck to the fighters out there. I am still working through all of my loans also. I am about half way there. Feels good.

Just a follow-up: I complained to the BBB online about this incident this morning. They have already sent out a notice to First IRS. I was pretty excited. I have complained before to the BBB but never received a reply so quickly!! Happy Friday everyone.
