I entered a credit card hardship plan last fall due to being laid off. I then got a letter stating my account was going to be closed. They did not tell me this over the phone. I had not nor have not missed any payments and am working again. Can I get off the hardship program?

If you are still on the hardship program, they will not allow further charges. This happened to me with Discover back when I was on hardship plan. I would call the creditor and explain that you can now make the payments, but I'm sure they will want you to catch up on the overdue portion.

The credit card is with First Financial Bank USA. I called them and asked to be taken off the hardship program and to reopen my account. The representative said the would need to run my credit and have in processed through an underwriter. I have had the account since 1996 and was late with one payment years ago in all that time. I am trying to qualify and to save to buy a house and this hurts my credit.
