Here's the quick review: 14 years ago I had 2 credit cards that were turned over to MCM (Midland Credit Management). The original debt was for $150 and $350 which then grew to over $6,000 with all their fees and such. Needless to say those were fought and nothing came of it. I chose not to have any credit cards, checking accounts, etc till about 5 months ago. I opened a checking account and was offered a credit card which I accepted. I also received a free credit report from all 3 credit agencies which had nothing on them. Once I opened my account I started getting phone calls from MCM. No letters or anything just phone calls---3 times a day (8 am, 2 pm, and 8 pm) like clock work. They call 7 days a week and even called on Thanksgiving. I am current and have a 0 balance on my credit card. I checked my credit report yesterday and am absolutely shocked. MCM has listed not 1, not 2, not 3, but 27 accounts! I have never hung up on them but I do say that this is WAY past SOL and to move on with their lives. I called today and asked them about the listings and GET THIS....they openly admit that they are the ORIGINAL credit cards from 14 years ago. They say that each time the collection account changes departments they can list it on the credit report.

What can I do? This is getting very old with MCM. I fought them about 8 years ago regarding these same accounts and finally won...all 3 agencies removed them from my report. Experian even sent me a letter to give an attorney if I chose to pursue a case because they re-aged accounts and even made up accounts.

Hey Soaplady, you seem to come up with real good solutions to all problems.

Plus remind them that their reporting is in violation of the FRCA.

Could you please inform me about the steps that one needs to follow under similar circumstances when they still keep coming after such accounts?
