Identity Theft - Mine stolen - Help
Date: Wed, 12/15/2010 - 07:52
This is what has happened to me because of PDL's. Yesterday I received a call at work from another company letting me know that they had filed a police report against me because I had called their company 50 times yesterday looking for a specific person and threatening the employees of this company. This company decided to call my company to speak to my supervisor and the receptionist gave the call to me. Once this other company spoke to me they realized I was not the person that had been calling them, I do not have a strong Indian Accent. She gave this company my full name, home address, home phone number, work phone, work address, email and social security number. I'm not so concerned regarding my credit because it is horrible, I'm concerned that this person or person's could have an ID with my information, what if they get in trouble, accidents, apply for internet payday loans, etc. I have filed a police report so there is something on record. Of course the police will not pursue it as they really have no information to go on. She blocked the number she was calling from. This really has be very upset, I'm scheduled for surgery Jan 14th, I found out I'll have to take 2 weeks off for recovery, and that in it self will cause a financial hardship for me so this is the last thing I need to worry about. Any advise is greatly appreciated

I would put a fraud alert on your credit report and also notify your bank. That way if anyone applies for credit, they will have to check with your first. You may also want to implement a password or secret question that only would know the answer to.

We have a pass word and secret question at our bank, my information was obviously stolen during the whole PDL mess, I closed the bank account associated with that, so the new bank is safe.
