Collectors calling & out of work

With the change in government and that companies now know what their taxes are going to be next year I'm hoping that things will pick up after the new year.
However, at present I'm $20,000 in debit through a Loan that I did some time back. I wanted to consolidate everything into one loan. Unfortunately, I have been out of work for over a year. I was doing computer support. I have tapped out my 401 and lost the other half when Wachovia went under. At the moment I'm tapped out and B*A card services keeps calling for their money. I wish those folks could just put it on hold until I get beck on my feet.
I was getting some help from my sister but her husband was just killed in a motorcycle accident about two months ago and all of my family resources are going to help her.
Does anybody have any suggestions on what might be my best coarse of action?

Have you discussed your problem with the B*A people? I wish you had enrolled with some kinda Credit protection program earlier.

No, I don't think these folks are gonna stop calling you like that. Either you have to opt for a repayment plan with them or will need to work with any other repayment service. Alternatively, you may work on a Self-repayment plan.
I do understand how difficult it is to find a job under the present conditions. See, if you can try out other options e.g. a part-time job etc.
