Fraud?

Hi. I received a call from someone claiming to be from the "Federal Govt Fraud Dept" threatening to take legal action against me, including sending affidavits to me and ccing my manager at my job and my county's courthouse. All this if I didn't pay them $512 which they said I owed to a payday loan company. I do have payday loans but not to this company. I asked them for what they were telling me in writing. They said they wouldn't provide anything in writing since I got the payday loans on the internet. Has anyone heard of this? My instinct was to ignore it since it seemed so illegit, but I wanted to see if anyone had information that it was legit.

yes we all have had those calls from scammers claiming they are "legal this"and "government that"it is a scam.first file a police report as they did threaten,and harrass.then use any info like the name they gave,and any phone #'s to file ag,and ftc complaints.above all else it is a scam.file the report and complaints.then ignore their sorry selves.

It's entirely possible the PDL company sold/gave them your information. do as paulmergel says, file a report and ignore the calls.
