How can someone have a CA stopped from calling about people the person receiving the call never heard of. When explained they don't know the person and how did the caller, or the person they name, get the called person's phone number. The caller (specifically in this case) from 1-877-519-6039 calls and ask for someone I never heard of until this Kevin asked to speak to him. Still don't know him. Of course, the caller evidently thinks I am lying and that impugns my integrity. I'd like to face the caller. :twisted:The company is based in Overland Park, KS and I live in CA - is there a law against the caller harrassing me?????
when searched with KS BBB the name was given asRegent Asset Management Sytems - the company sued by Colorado Atty General.....

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!
By federal law, collection agencies are allowed to call a third party only once when they are not able to contact the debtor for some reason. They are forbidden to disturb a third party time and again. So, if Kevin calls you again, tell him politely that you are well aware of FDCPA laws and you'll be taking legal action against the collection agency. I don't think he will call you again. If he still does, contact your State's Attorney General or file a complaint with FTC.
