orange county fl - order setting case for mediation
we have this coming up around Jan20th. what do we do to delay this process or skip it and get a date for trial. we are filing for bankruptcy after we get our income tax to pay for it. we just need a couple weeks thanks for any help

Hi thats where I live. I had the same issue last year before filing bankruptcy. I had a lawsuit against me, called the lawyers office suing me to let them know that the week after the court case was scheduled I was filing. I figured I would be nice and save them the waste of time and resources going to court. Lordy, did they get nasty with me about it-called me a liar and just trying to stall the case. I said no I figured I might would save ya'll the waste. They didnt believe me, so I went and showed up at court and I told the judge that next week I was filing bankrupt, had the lawyer-partial paid off-waiting for 1 more check to pay in full so he could file, and I had told this office suing me so we wouldnt have to waste the courts time. Judge didnt care, they got a judgement against me. I really didnt care cause I figured oh well they just wasted their time and even more money suing me and now they got to eat all that cost and expense. The following week I filed bankrupt. It felt real good too!! Two weeks later I called that lawyers office and laughed in their face, told them haha cost you even more, now you dont get squat. I probably should not have done that, but damn it felt good, real good. I say let them go to court, it costs them even more in the long run.
