Darn United Cash Loans/US Fast Cash - Help needed...
Date: Wed, 01/05/2011 - 09:59
Here are the issues I need guidance with:
1. They refuse to give me an alternate way to pay them, and I'm not giving them my bank account number.
2. They refuse to give me an address to send a Verification of Debt letter or letter to end harassing phone calls, so I'm not sure what to do there. Also, if I had an address, I'd just send them my payment.
3. Now we are getting phone calls from the same guy with a thick accent claiming to be either Officer Taylor or Officer WIlliams -- at home and at my husbands job. They only call my home phone when my husband is at work, and so he cant speak with them. He doesnt work at the kind of job where he can take a phone call (he's a teacher, and cant just leave to take a phone call) so he misses the calls at work. They wont speak with me (the loans are under his name). When we call back, 99% of the time there is a sketchy answering machine and no live person. Oh, and when I DID reach this "officer", the line was so staticky that I could hardly understand him. What I did understand from him was that he was a "Paralegal Officer" and was in the state of California.
I dont know how to handle this, I dont know who to contact. We live in the state of SC, and my husband works in NC. Can anyone help me out?

What are the names of the Payday lenders? Keep in mind that if they are not licensed to do business in SC, then you only morally have to pay back the principal (no interest/fees). Don't under any circumstances give them your new account numbers. File complaints with your State's Attorney General's Office and FTC. You can do it online. After you file the complaint, you can print it off and send them a copy of it.

Those phone calls you are getting kinda sound like the classic Indian call center scam. These companies WILL sell your info to just about anyone, and then companies will call, say you owe them money, claim to be an Officer or Investigator or some other official, and that you are going to be served, arrested, etc....it's a scam...do the voices on the VM sound foreign?
My advice, personally, would be to close the account like you did, and then file complaints with the Attorney General, FTC, BBB...anyone who will listen. 99.999% sure they are trying to scam you.
Just look around this site, there is a TON of info on how to deal with pay day loan companies...it's working for me(so far)...
Good luck!
Thanks so much for the info. I have begun a report to the FCC,
Thanks so much for the info.
I have begun a report to the FCC, but am having trouble finding the place on the Attorney General website to file a complaint (the companies are United and USFast Cash).
They are Indian if my knowledge of specific accents is correct. I am not intimidated by them, but frustrated that my husband is recieving calls at work. Does filing a complaint typically get them to back off?
I guess my biggest frustration is that we are willing to pay our initial debt, but they will not work with us with a valid address. I dont want to send a check or a formal letter to some random address only to continuously get the letters back.
Like I said, Thanks again for the info. I've been looking around on the site and am finding some VERY useful info. :)

If you do a search on this site you can find addresses for both companies. As far as sending a check, I think I'd send a money order or use a prepaid credit card; if you send them a personal check, it's likely they'll go into that account and try to get whatever money they can. Don't know much about US Fast Cash, but United Cash Loans has an address located on Indian tribal lands here in the States so they can avoid prosecution. However, as PDL's share their customers' information, it's possible that some outfit/bottomfeeder collection agency IS calling you from India or somewhere else. I'd also file complaints with your State financial regulatory agency.
Sounds like the "Criminal Investigation Department" from New Yor
Sounds like the "Criminal Investigation Department" from New York. "Officer Jack Wilson" with a heavy Asian/Arabic accent called me last night demanding $5000.00 or I would be "arrested". HA! They are scammers. Unfortunately they have my birthdate SSN etc. I did change bank accounts. They claim I took out a loan with US Cash Advance for $200.00 which is a lie.
Report those calls to the FTC. The FTC is VERY familiar with this.
Also be prepared to hear from a CA called Alliance Asset Managem
Also be prepared to hear from a CA called Alliance Asset Management saying you have unpaid PDLs. This all happened to me yesterday.....don't give them ANY info and demand that they send you a letter stating what you owe....don't say yes to anything they ask.
