How do I deal with Fake "Officers"???
Date: Fri, 01/07/2011 - 07:11
So now we are getting the classic scenario of the Indian sounding guy calling us at home and at my husbands place of employment. He's a rude guy too. The secretaries at my husbands workplace dont buy his "scam" about being an Officer, and I appreciate that they are so supportive about dealing with him. But I just dont like that the guy keeps calling him at work. Its a school, and it just looks bad.
Today the guy called (who has a different last name every time) and was pretty rude. He demanded to speak with my husband. I told him that he was wasting his time, because my husband cant take his calls at work, and OFFICER TAYLOR never calls when my husband is at home. I invited him to call back after 6pm and he refused. Then he asked me if I would take a call-back number, to which I replied that every time we call the number, we dont get anyone.
I'm not sure if there is an effective way to get these calls to stop, since they aren't operating legally and thus held to the same set of rules. But I thought I'd ask. We've reported them to the FTC, the States AG, and the BBB, and have told them as much, but is there anything else I can do??
TIA!! :D

I've been searching for their address too by confusing them by when they call put them on hold and call the number back over and over then put them all on a conference call. It will tie up all their phone lines that they will stop calling you. but then they try to be smart and call you unknown so i do it again.
they stop calling me for a good 6 months so they tried again so I approached them in a nice concerned way and ask for a phone number and address but the officer taylor would not give me a address only phone so I asked for a manager and told him I need a address to send payment, this what I got and been calling them 402-788-1666 ,yea they might get rude but ill find them and the news is going to report that a collection agency employee just got fukd up. I did a search of the number and it came up somewhere in NJ. The only reason Im sure is I was on the phone one day and when I asked for the address he didn't give it to me and I asked him do you work right around a big interstate and like a big park then he pause and was quite for about a min then said what am I talking about and hung up on me

I had a similar situation when I was not even in default on a payday loan. I beleive that these scam artists get info from pay day loan lenders even when you are not in default. Anyway -this is I how I handled the last call and it stopped...
They asked to speak to me....
They asked if the last four of my SSN were ****? I said that was not my SSN.
They then asked if I knew "person's name"? This was actually the name of a ref I gave on a payday loan. I said that I had no idea who that was.
I continued to say that although my name and number was who they called, that the other info was not me. I convinced then that they must of had the wrong person.
No more calls....

I had a call just the other day at work from one of these Indian speaking Aholes, he wanted me to verify my email and I told him, I'm sorry I don't verify any personal information over the phone. I asked him who he was and who he worked for, he told me and I said "I'm sorry that's not your real name". He said "I have no other choice but to turn you over to my supervisor and my response was please do. I spoke in a very calm voice and he ended up hanging up on me. Kill them with kindness, because they don't stop calling. At home I don't answer my phone, but at work I'm kinda stuck.

The FBI local office I called told me they were very familiar
with these people and they have been informed that
originally this was a company from FLA who were collectors
for payday loans they were caught with their sleezy acts and
fined 1.3 mill then the guy moved his business to an Indian
call center and just bought bulk phone numbers.
They told me that's why they can't get their hands on them
it happened to me I filed complaints with FBI and IC3.gov
they called me at work and some of my co workers also got calls
( regarding themselves not me) I work for the Feds and the calls

mrsbntn is 100 percent correct; I personally had to deal with one PDL that was located in the UK, their call bank was located in India, but they had a Utah telephone number! So unfortunately it's very difficult for agencies in the US to successfully get to these people.
