I keep getting calls from these foreign speaking people that say they have a legal matter filed against my name. They start out asking for my attorney's name so they can call and fax him legal papers on me. I always tell them to send me something that I do not know what they are talking about. They act all surprised and then they transfer me to someone else that starts telling me all about it. They state my name, address and the last 4 of SS#. Say that I took out a loan with Cash Advance America. I tell him I have never heard of them and then he says that it could be one of the other 400 names they go by. I do have online payday loans that I am unable to pay at this time. I am in Mississippi. I have been told by someone at a law office that these are scam calls and to just hang up. I never get a good phone # from them. They seem to go in cycles about every 2 months. They give the same line as others here have said about will be arrested.

This can be handled 2 ways. You can just tell them that federal law requires them to send you something in writing. Or, if you care to be devilish, give them a bogus attorney name and fax number, and then tell them to only contact your attorney. It is not their intention to fax anything to anyone. They're just saying that to scare you into paying them something.

Thank you for the response. The other problem I have is having too many PDL's and not being able to stay with the payment arrangements that I set up with each of them. All were done verbally except one. My bank account is so overdrawn it is crazy. How do I find out what I can do to stop them from calling until I can get things straightened out. I have read other threads about the legality of online loans. I am in Mississippi. The companies are CMG, Star Cash, 500 Fast Cash, Cash Advance Now, Cash Advance USA, Global, Kenwood Services, and PayDay One. Any help that you could give me is very much appreciated.
