well he did violate the FDCPA in alot of ways.first even if he is a lawyer, and if you do a search in the bar top right.you will see he is a bottomfeeder.even so he is collecting which means he must follow and adhere to the FDCPA.secondly he must be licensed to not only practice law in GA,but he must be licensed to collect in GA.he has neither.thirdly since this bottomfeeder bought the debt they can't charge interest.next time the douche calls state you will not speak further without something in writing.hang up and do not talk to them until you receive something.for now search in the bar top right.you should be able to get an address to send a DV(debt validation)letter.
If he tells you he is a lawyer then ask him who his client is...
If he tells you he is a lawyer then ask him who his client is.....sometimes they try to get tricky and act for another company....SO you could send a DV to the client IF there is one...I did that and then send a letter to the lawyer with a copy of the DV letter.
Now the key thing here is that if a lawyer were truely acting in a legal capacity they would not even bother to try and collect, they would simply sue. When they call COLLECTING a debt, they are acting as debt collectors. Oh, also, you can ask them for the bar number..by law a lawyer HAS to give you that info.
Thanks for the info Mods,I appreciate it. 1 question I have..

1 question I have.....Can I send a cease and desist letter stating no more phone calls, communication by mail only? If so,do you guys have in examples?
Well technically the federal regulations don't specifically cove
Well technically the federal regulations don't specifically cover just cease calls...however if you sued upon it it would be up to the judge...I had a judge uphold my limited cease & desist so it can be done...just depends on the judge. Do it anyway, what can it hurt? At the most if you do sue the judge will simply not allow those violations, so it doesn't hurt to include it in your letter.

Received a voice mail today at work on the phone of a co-worker. The VM was transferred to me. I called several times as my call kept getting dropped. Once I did reach someone they obviously didn't know who called or why, Then he asked for by SSN, told him now way, I have very good credit and can not think why an atty. was calling. He came back on the phone and said disregard the call!!!!
He was calling from 866-202-0021.
