Not only should you close the bank account, but also make sure that no debits/ACH/checks can be written against it. Some banks will do that if they consider them "pending". So be sure to talk to a bank manager and do that.
You have a moral obligation to give back the money these companies gave to you, depsite their lack of morals in attempting to charge you these exorbitant fees such relatively small amounts of money. Basically....you take the amount you borrowed, subtract any payments you may have already made, and that is what you owe. If you paid more than the original loan, then you owe nothing, and some would say that THEY OWE YOU. That's the case with a few of mine...I chose not to fight that battle, but you might want to.
Collect the addresses and all information you can about the loan companies, and write a complaint letter, each one separate, to the NYS Attorney General. They need to know what these out of state/out of country thieves are doing to their citizens.
File complaints with the Better Business Bureau regarding these companies....both in NY and, if applicable, the state that the company resides in.
If you don't wish to deal with phone calls, consider changing your phone number. I haven't found this necessary yet, but it's a thought.
And going forward, be sure to be as respectful and professional and as blunt as you can be. What they are doing is against the law, no matter what they tell you their contract says(it's null and void by the way because of the interest rate they made you agree to).
Here is a thread here in which I am documenting my own personal PDL journey....it was the biggest mistake of my adult life, and I will NEVER EVER make these mistakes again...in it is a ton of great advice from great folks like Shazzers and Paul Mergel and others who have steered me in a direction where I am comfortable in my position again.

Please keep in mind, legal debts are just that. Legal. If you have a legitimate debt...pay it. Even if it's $20 a month or whatever you can afford. Don't rip people off. But don't be taken advantage of. I sure as shootin' won't. Never again.

Thanks for your response with the help of all of you on here I don't think I would have ever figured out what was going on... I definately want to pay them back what i borrowed i am not that type of person at all.. Do I reaaly need it in writing (A PIF letter) or should i just consider it to be so because i paid them back....I am never ever gonna apply for one of these things again... I will find other ways to deal with money issues....I want to work with these people and get it done but i heard alot of them are horrible to work with....that is the only scary thing....I'll keep you posted.. Thanks for the quick reply....

The PIF letter is for your protection. Most of these illegal lenders are known for selling these loans off to collection agencies, even after they've been legally PIF. That letter is your proof. No CA will be able to validate an illegal loan BUT, it's much easier to just send them a copy of a PIF letter and tell them to go away than to go through trying to get them to validate and having to deal with their annoying calls.

have you paid these people the principle of what you took out? If not then you can offer to pay just that amount (no fees interest or whatever they might like to call it) file complaints with BBB and FTC and department of finance and banking./attorney generals of the individual states these people are from and also from your own state.
OKlahoma is the only state i have found that is not helpful the rest have been great. Loanshoponline gave me a PIF as soon as i filed a complaint with BBB in DE.Ameriloan and United are a little more persistant but be assured you will get thru this. Your state might also help alot. Always get everything in writing. I never discuss anything on the phone because i have no proof of whats been said. As mike said there are wonderful people on here that will help you with any problems you have.. It may be frustrating sometimes but it will get dealt with in the end
also send a copy of the letters you send to the companies revoki
also send a copy of the letters you send to the companies revoking wage assignments/ach withdrawals to your employer hr or payroll so that should they try wage assignments your employer will know you dont authorize them.
Its just a precaution they may not try that but better to be on the safe side

I had them taking out of my bank account which has been secured for over a week now. I sent out c d letters a couple days ago and have heard nothing since. The only one I could not send one to is national Money Store because I have not been able to find there fax number. They have not contacted me at all but it could be because they took out 600 for a 200 loan... I do see the light at the end of this crazy tunnel it just takes a while to get there.....
