My wife got a $700 loan from these people b4 x-mas. So far we have made 4 $210 payments every 2 weeks, for a total of $840 paid. I was looking to pay off the balance and they are telling me we owe $900 more. Is this legal? What can we do?. We are in Washington State.

thanks

They aren't licensed to lend in your state. What you need to do is close your account, they are an illegal lender. Your account will never be safe again. CLICK HERE to find out how to deal with illegal lenders.

I have another problem, I have an outstanding check for $200 to the IRS. I really don't want to bounce a check to them, but I don't think it will clear in time. My next schedule payment to National_PaydayLoan.com is on Friday the 11th of Feb. Can the Bank, (BoA) put a hold on the account but still pay the check?

Ok, 1 more question. I'm getting ready to go close my account at BoA, and I am not sure what to expect from the bank. ie will they be helpful? Should I take my money out b4 I talk to the bank manager? I found this on WA states ag website,

http://dfi.wa.gov/consumers/alerts/national-payday-loan.htm

And I'm guessing it should help me deal with the bank. My plan is to take most of my money out, then talk to bank manager about closing account or ach hold.

Any thoughts??

Thanks again, everyone here has been super helpfull.

Just make sure you speak directly to the branch manager. Print out that consumer alert and take it with you when you go to the bank. They might try to talk you into opening a new account, but in my opinion, the further away from Bofa, the better off you will be. I have read many posts from other members who have complained the BOA was not helpful. My personal experience with them was not good either. With that said, you will have that print out to back up your decision to close that account, you really need to close it for sure.

You might want to consider opening an account at a credit union.

So I got my BoA account completely closed today and they were actually very helpful about it. The manager told me that after 24 hours from closing the account nothing could re-open it. I made it clear to him that I wasn't paying anything else to these PDL scumbags and he said that would not happen. So I am going to wait till tomorrow to send my ACH revocation letter. I got it ready to go. I'm thinking about signing up for google voice to help deal with possible future harassment.

thanks again to all who helped

Thanks Shazz, now I'm just waiting for the shit-storm of harassment to start. They have my wife's work contact info, not to mention her ss#. I have acquired a google voice phone # which I will use for any pdl people that try to contact us. Any suggestions on how to protect her ss#?

Thanks again.........

I need help with National Payday Loan as well. I have a loan from them but I do not remember it. I have gotten a call from a guy in Minnesota stating that i owe $3,000 to him or he is going to put me in jail. I have tried to contact the 3 lenders that he says that I owe and no one can tell me about them. How do I find out if I owe them and how do I know that I will not be getting into trouble over this? I am in Maryland and I know one of them is not legal in the State of Maryland. Please help.

Do they have access to your bank account? If they do, you should close it asap. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it. Tell them to send you something in writing regarding what you owe(they won't do this).

If you continue to be harassed, start your own thread here and ask for advise. This is an awesome site, but you'll get more response with your own thread.

good luck

You really are a deadbeat. All you paid were the loan fees which are $30.00 per $100.00 borrowed. You never paid any principle. You just kept renewing the loan. Their policies are very clear. I have dealt with them many times with no problems.
