I would just like to say that this forum has helped me tremdously. I found my self with over nine payday loans in August and all of them were completely sucking me dry...it was a nightmare. i stumbled upon this forum and did exactly what you all said. I was terrified, but went to the bank and explained to them exactly what was going on (capital one) they were very understanding and closed my account immediately. i had peace and quiet for about two weeks, and then...all hell broke loose. I got calls on my phone, my work phone, my two friends that i put as references started getting calls. I lost one of them as a friend over this actually, but oh well. the calls were relentless, but i held my ground. i fought back. wrote my AG's office, kept good notes and when they saw that i wasn't going to budge and pay their OUTRAGEOUS fees, they started offering me settlements. Some where for the exact amount borrowed, which i paid, and others were for 1/2 of what was borrowed, and a few were $20-$40 above what was borrowed. I got everything in writing and i can honestly say that all is quiet now and it took only about 5 months. I will say that I have one straggler United Cash Loans, they continue to call but never leave a msg, so oh well, and Paydayone and Ameriloan i haven't heard from ever since i "pushed" back when they tried to collect some ridiculous amount from me. So for all those who are in this payday loan nightmare, just know that you can stop the madness. Don't be intimidated, don't be afraid, just arm yourself with the knowledge of the laws in your state and start getting aggressive with them. You can do it! This forum is great! I have recommended it to several others.

Great news! It's a wonderful feeling to get out of the PDL trap
Great news! It's a wonderful feeling to get out of the PDL trap, isn't it? As for United Cash Loans, odds are good you'll be hearing from them for a long while; they're like the corpses you see in the horror movies - you think they're dead and gone and after a while they spring back to life. But hold your ground and if they call, hang up.
