Call from American? had a lot of personal info on me regarding an Everest Cash Advance that was suing my for writing a fraudulant check. I reported Everest and refused to pay once I found out they were not legal according to this site. Didn't hear from them in a long time....but now Got my credit card info anda callled me at work to serve me papers? Said I owed $145.00 and were taping me??

well since everest is illegal, and internet this bottomfeeder that just goes by the name american can't claim a fraudulant check because you didn't write a check.basically they broke the law with their threat and should be reported.as far as the info you gave.it depends.if you gave bank,or cc info stop that immediately.have your cc replaced.if you gave a debit card number have that replaced.if you just gave contact info i wouldn't worry but never pay a voice over the phone.especially one that threatens illegaly.file a police report for the call.then try not to engage them as again they broke the law by threatening you.

Should I call this number back and tell them not to withdrawl any money or will that do no good anyway? I feel so stupid but I didn't want this woman to come make a scene at my work! I did take a loan out from them - kept trying to pay off/overpaid and then closed my account and stopped. Will they go away if I pay them? Or do I just tell them not to call me anymore?

What info did you give them? Credit card info? Checking account? You need to close whatever it is ASAP. You should NEVER trust a voice on the phone and give them your info. If you pay them, they WON'T go away. They'll keep coming back and taking every penny you're willing to give them. Tell them you know it's a scam and to not call you again. After that, don't even answer the phone when they call. That's the only way to get them to leave you alone. No one is coming to your place of employment. That's a scare tactic and, obviously, it's effective. These people aren't even in the country. Keep this in mind...a process server depends on the element of surprise. If they call you and warn you they're coming, that kind of defeats the purpose. Do NOT fall for this nonsense!

do not contact them further.if you do then they will bleed you dry.change whatever method you gave them, and file the police report.then either ignore them,or hang up on them a complete bottomfeeder.btw they don't care about the law.if they did they wouldn't have threatened you illegaly in the first place.one last thing if i may ask.

1)how much was borrowed from everest
2)how much was debited before you defaulted

you see since everest is illegal you only owe the principle, and anything debited goes toward that example:you borrow 250.00.they debit 75.00 four times. they actually owe you 50.00.do not even think about paying them.if you do owe pay it on your terms not theirs, but you might not owe near what they claim.

I paid $720.00 on a $400.00 loan and told them they owed me $200. Never heard from them until this call from "American" today saying I was being served papers for writing a fraudulant check. I was mortified at the thought of some woman coming to my work today called the number and made arrangements to take out money using my debit card at my next payday. I just want to be sure I am doing the right thing. I have cancelled my debit card, have a call into my bank and will call the police department. I just want them to go away!!! thank you for the quick replies, you think I would have learned my lesson but they play dirty.......
