Hi. First, you can set up a seperate phone or voice mail line to take the calls so you take them on your terms. Second, tell them what you just told us. It upsets me to hear it and it is true so go for it. Finally, If they attack, you hang up.
In general terms, if you are planning to settle it is not important to talk with them often. Once or twice a month is good.
Look out for the unemployment comp question.... They would like to have that.

Now would probably be the time for you to go to work while your husband is at home. Let him be a stay at home dad for awhile.

soaplady, easier said than done. people with lots of experience and advanced degrees are finding it VERY difficult to find any kind of job. if she does find a job, it would likely be more useful to put it towards keeping her family afloat until her husband can find employment again.

During our settlement process we always found agents to be more friendly when we called them instead of taking their calls. We always let their calls go to voicemail and then we would call them back at a convenient tine for us. We never said we were returning their call just said we were calling to update them on our situation.
We just kept reiterating that there just was no money. That I had lost my job and. That we had been trying to keep up but that after year we could no longer do it. We told themwe were sorry but that we just didn't have it. When they asked for any income information we asked if that was required and were always told it was not so we never provided it. They always tried to get us to commit to paying a little and we just kept saying we didn't have anything to send and could not promise any future payment because we did not want to promise something we could deliver on.

Getting a job is no something I'm against, but we live in a state where I have no one and my husband who works for a union has to report to the union hall everyday to see if their is work for the day and with 197 guys out and he being # 184 its not looking good that he will go back in the next 3 months. Plus, I have to care for my kids during the day, so working full time can't happen they are young and not in school full day. At anyrate thats neither here nor there. I had money in the bank but he was laid off for a whole yr about a yr ago and we used that to keep up with the 3 credit cards, mortage, utility, water..ect...and now once again we find him without a job..no one is building homes, companies, warehouse so without that there is no job for him and his union. I just have NO money left..I mean nothing...I cant even buy a single item and uneplyment is so backed up we haven't even recieved any money from them yet...ugh!!
I just don't know how much info I have to provide them with and what info I DO NOT have to tell them.
This whole situation just blows! However, looking on the +++ side I hope to be able to settle my debt with my income tax return(i'm holding onto it for settlement in my moms bank account)

It is not that you have to go outside for making money. You can make money from your home also. You can start a home business or can do write articles for various websites. You can create your own blog and make money through affiliate marketing. I think you should try out these options. A lot of individuals are making money online. So, why not you?
