So Confused, Now What??? Long Story
Date: Wed, 02/16/2011 - 07:18
After that nothing for a few months. During that time I was trying to work with the attorney trying to make payment arrangements. The attorney NEVER responded.
Two different letters were sent Certified mail in the month of January to the attorney with no response.
We then received a letter from Northland Group stating they had the account and were wanting to do a 3 payment plan. In turn I sent them a DV letter. We could not afford their payments. They then sent out DV and return I sent them a letter trying to make payment arrangements, I sent this certified also.
Now not even a week after I sent this letter to them I get a notice from the attorney that they are trying to garnish my husbands bank account. Actually the letter I received was mailed from their office but it was copies of the court Writ that they had sent to the bank along with a copy of the banks response.
Now to make matters even more confusing the bank stated they had no account with his name on it when indeed they do !! He and I are on the same account, he is secondary. In turn the bank sent no money to them. Also my balance is negative at this moment due to them garnishing my money to a cc account of mine.
So now I am wondering what to do with all of this. Who should I contact to try to make payment arrangements? Who really now owns this account? And what about the bank who told them there is no bank account?
I hope this story makes some sense and someone can try to help me out. Sorry it is so long but that is the way it has been. Help !!!
As far as I can understand, it is the collection agency called N
As far as I can understand, it is the collection agency called Northland Group which owns the account now. Your husband will have to make a payment arrangement with them in order to pay off the debts. Your husband will have to negotiate for a payment plan so that he can stop them from garnishing his bank account.
No, Northland does not own it, Capital One does. Northland work
No, Northland does not own it, Capital One does. Northland works on assignment for them. Cap One took you to court, and they are using Northland to collect on the judgment. They are who you need to call.
So Soaplady do I understand correctly, We need to contact Northl
So Soaplady do I understand correctly, We need to contact Northland? Also what about the fact that they contacted the bank already and the bank told them there is no account with his name and indeed there is.
