If you are self employed does it make it harder to be sued? I get a settlement each week from the company I am leased to but it varies and so does the cost of doing business. Can they garnish the check I receive.

what if you are a 100% shareholder in an s-corp and pay yourself a salary? can they garnish the wages of the paycheck you pay yourself? the answer is probably yes technically, but it doesn't seem practical since I have absolute control over payments to myself.
